Building

We created the landmark of the entire building - a glass dome with a panoramic view of the Holywood Hills - for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. The importance and contribution of the new building for Los Angeles is also evidenced by the fact that in the future it is being considered that the annual ceremonial presentation of the Oscars will take place here. The Museum of Film Studies was inaugurated in September 2021 and offers its visitors a unique exhibition on the history of cinema and filmmaking.

Structure

The main supporting structure is made of 101.6 x 10 mm tubes. The glazing is supported on secondary T-profiles welded from 10 x 60 mm cross-section tie bands and 12 mm thick sheet-metal struts with variable heights ranging from 30 to 70 mm. The cross-pieces connecting the main tubular girders are milled from the 60 and 80 mm thick plates. The spatial rigidity of the structure is ensured by a system of prestressed connecting rods that encircle the entire structure.
